We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a clinical nurse specialist in skin cancer who can contribute to providing an excellent service for patients with melanoma and complex skin cancers within University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the specific needs and expectations of this group of patients. You will be working very closely with the Trust’s dermatology/surgical /oncology teams to provide the highest level of support and care for patients.
The CNS will provide a comprehensive, holistic service for skin cancer patients which will help improve the journey of the patients and their families as they learn to adapt and cope with the disease. You will be proactive, motivated, compassionate and passionate about delivering a high standard of care to patients and their families, and committed to improving patient experience.
You will also be committed to the development of specialist nursing practice and demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional and academic development. There will be an expectation to collect data and to evaluate the impact of the service.
You would be working with a dynamic and motivated clinical team supporting patients through this care pathway. You would have the opportunity to be coached in change management and project leading to facilitate your development.
The role would suit a dynamic and innovative nurse with excellent communication and organisational skills – experience in either dermatology, surgery, cancer care or palliative care would be an asset. A successful appointment will depend upon interview and fulfilling service requirements.
