Bursledon House is looking to recruit a dynamic, full time band 7 nurse team manager, with proven managerial skills, who has experience of working with children with complex emotional and psychological issues and possible challenging behaviours.
As a qualified paediatric, mental health or dual registered nurse, you will have the skills and understanding to help people make the most of their abilities. We are looking for a nurse team manager who can help transform vision into reality, who can innovate and motivate by empowering others. You will have the experience and strength of character to lead the staff team by example, to encourage and inspire all members of the team; you will be an asset to our service and will participate in creating an atmosphere conducive to delivering positive change for both the unit and the patients.
We are a multi-professional specialist unit and part of child health, physically based on the edge of the Southampton General Hospital site with our own gardens and onsite school. Our inpatient environment is nurturing, friendly, informal and yet structured enough to help the young person or to feel safe. We value the individual as part of their larger family and social system.
The unit is open Monday through to Friday and the children go home at weekends to consolidate their treatment.
The children’s ages range from toddler through to 16 years and they can be referred to the unit with a variety of problems which require a multidisciplinary approach. We work closely as a team to ensure the best outcomes for our children and adolescents, and we work closely with patient’s families, together supporting the young people in overcoming their difficulties. You will take an active role in caring for the young people and children, working alongside more junior staff. You will be able to relate to children of different ages and have the necessary skills to engage in appropriate and meaningful therapeutic relationships. Ideally you will have a mature approach to challenges, will have excellent communication skills and will be able to maintain boundaries with our young people in a firm but kindly and caring manner.
We in turn offer you the support you may need to ensure your management and leadership skills are delivered consistently to a high standard. We actively support training and education in post wherever possible.
So if you are looking for a rewarding challenge and think you have the passion to lead and develop a team, dedicated to making a difference to a child’s life then we want to hear from you. Apply now to lead our skilled and friendly team and help us to deliver our vision to improve health and wellbeing by providing high quality care.
