Applications are invited for an Article 14 training post in anaesthetics to join an expanding team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. This position is 12 months in the first instance with anticipation to extend up to 60 months based on performance of the candidate.
It is ideally suited for candidates who wish to complete their training through the article 14 ‘Certificate confirming Eligibility for Specialist Registration’ (CESR) route.The post is to support the middle grade tier of anaesthetic trainees at UHS. The successful candidate will undertake all duties that trainees at the same level of training are involved in.
You will be in team built from consultants to trainees.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
It involves rotating through sub-specialty modules where the post holder will receive training and support equivalent to the other trainees on the program. We offer rotations in most anaesthetic sub-specialties including cardiothoracics, paediatrics and neuroanaesthesia.
The successful candidate will undertake all duties that trainees at the same level of training are involved in. UHS is a tertiary referral and teaching hospital for a large area in the south of England and the Channel Islands and caters for most surgical subspecialties. University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) became a Major Trauma Centre (MTC) in April 2012. The UHS MTC is the hub of a trauma network served by trauma units across central and Southern England.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Applicants should be or should have registered with the GMC with a Licence to practice, medical degree, primary FRCA, and completion of foundation years training or equivalent
Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).
Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay)
Basic Salary - MT04 £50,017
Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview
Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.
