There is an opportunity to join the Alcohol Care Team as a specialist nurse on a fixed term contract until the end of August 2020 this post is 15 hours per week. We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse, with a passion for working with patients with alcohol related conditions to join our team to help embed the alcohol element of CQUIN 9 ‘Health Matters: preventing ill health from alcohol and tobacco use’ and the CQUIN for 20/21 relating to alcohol dependence and liver screening.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Alcohol Care Team offers a service from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings so some flexibility is required. As a liaison service we see patients who are 18 years and older across the whole of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), to advise on management of any alcohol use disorder and plan ongoing care with patients. We are an enthusiastic team who are passionate about the service we offer.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The team delivers patient centred evidence based care to patients. We provide support, advice, and information to patients and their families. Liaison with referrers, community services and members of UHS multidisciplinary teams are essential elements to ensuring patients receive a seamless service. The team is involved in teaching both within the hospital and to colleagues in the community about many aspects of alcohol use disorders. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to be involved in this.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone with experience of working with patients with alcohol use disorders who can work independently within the team.Ideally experience of motivational interviewing and delivery of brief interventions would be beneficial though not essential.An open minded non-judgemental attitude is crucial to this role.
