An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) within the Surgical Admissions Team at Lymington Hospital. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic, established and well respected administrative team.
The key function of the role is to provide comprehensive knowledge and expertise to the booking, processing and in the administrative management of patients throughout their pathway at Lymington Hospital. The administrative team supports a variety of Specialities at Lymington Hospital with this post specifically focusing on Ophthalmology.
UHS activity at Lymington Hospital stems from within 2 Operating Theatres, Outpatient Clinics and pre assessment clinics.
This role is offered on a permanent, and part-time basis.
The successful candidate will be required to work 33 hours per week Monday to Friday. On occasions and in order to meet the business needs of the service, team members may be required to work at the weekend or have flexibility in working different hours, Monday to Friday where required.
The administrative Team which consists of both full time and part time members of staff, supports the business needs of the service from Monday to Friday and operates a shift pattern from 8am to 5pm. Overall the administrative team support the following surgical services that operate from Lymington, Hythe & Romsey:-
Surgery to include – Upper GI/Max Fax/HPB/Colorectal/Urology/ENT/ASU, Gynaecology, Vascular, Pain, Dermatology, Trauma & Orthopaedic and Ophthalmology
Activity stems from within 2 Operating Theatres, Outpatient Clinics and pre assessment clinics. Within the UHS footprint at Lymington Hospital
Key tasks include but are not limited to: extensive knowledge and working with IT Systems, ensuring the smooth management of patients throughout their pathway, the efficient and effective booking and prepping of patients into pre assessment and onto surgical lists, updating patient records, liaising with other sites and Trusts, working with an understanding of the performance targets and ensuring that these are achieved.
Ability to be flexible, use initiative, be able to prioritise, work to tight deadlines and perform to the highest standard under pressure. At all times project a ‘can-do’ attitude and have the ability to work alone and also as part of a team.
Able to use IT with confidence and with solid experience utilising Word and Excel.
Attention to detail and a high level of customer service is also required. Confidence in dealing with a wide catchment of both internal and external colleagues and with the patients at all times.
