We have an exciting opportunity within our Women and Newborn Service at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Foundation Trust for an E-Referral Coordinator, full time on a 3 month fixed term basis.


Princess Anne cares for expectant mothers, as well as providing care and treatment for other specialities including Fertility, Fetal medicine, Oncology, Breast and Gynaecology. This role is to support the Oncology Gynaecology service within the Princess Anne Hospital.

We are a small friendly supportive administrative team in a busy and challenging department.


  • You will be the central point of contact for a PSC Team on the implementation and use of the e-Referral system and partial booking.
  • You will provide a comprehensive administrative service to support all functions of the implementation of e-Referral and partial booking
  • You will provide hand’s on training and ongoing support to a PSC team for e-Referral and partial booking
  • You will be the point of contact for e-Referral within a PSC team for the related Care Group
  • You will provide an excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and to external agencies.
  • You will provide a comprehensive administration, booking and appointment service for inpatients and outpatients and ensure compliance with waiting time targets.


The role is varied and busy and you will need to have a flexible approach to a demanding workload with changing priorities.

You will need to have a high standard of spelling and grammar.

You will be someone who is committed to learn and develop.

You will need to demonstrate compassion, patience and calmness with good communication skills.

You must have a high level of organisation as this is essential.

You must have a caring and courteous manner with a thorough understanding of good customer service skills.

You should enjoy working with and meeting new people as you will be part of a varied multidisciplinary team and will have direct patient contact on a daily basis.

We’re also looking for you to demonstrate:

  • High standards of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person.
  • Use of IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • The ability to work independently, seeking guidance where necessary.
